Gestational Diabetes Mellitus : Managing the Risks, Ensuring a safe Pregnancy

Gestational diabetes Mellitus is a significant health concern affecting pregnant women worldwide. It is characterized by high blood sugar levels that develop during pregnancy and can pose risks to both the mother and the newborn baby. Given its potential impact, early detection and risk assessment play crucial roles in effectively managing and mitigating the complications associated with gestational diabetes.

Our risk assessment technology involves the systematic evaluation of various factors that contribute to the likelihood of developing the condition. This technology enables the healthcare providers to identify individuals who are at higher risk and implement targeted strategies to prevent or manage gestational diabetes Mellitus, leading to improved maternal health outcomes.

Accurate risk assessment not only helps identify those who are more likely to develop gestational diabetes mellitus, but also provides an opportunity for early intervention. With the help of our risk assessment technology, we aim to empower women and healthcare providers with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions and take proactive measures to ensure a healthy pregnancy.

Facts & Figures

According to WHO and the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), hyperglycaemia in pregnancy (HIP) can be classified as either pre-gestational diabetes, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) or diabetes in pregnancy (DIP). Pre-gestational diabetes includes women with known type 1, type 2 or rarer forms of diabetes before pregnancy. GDM may occur at anytime during the antenatal period and is not expected to persist postpartum. DIP applies to pregnant women with hyperglycaemia that were first diagnosed during pregnancy and meet WHO criteria of diabetes in the non-pregnant state. DIP is best detected during the first trimester. It has been estimated that most (75%–90%) cases of HIP are GDM.
